Lubinda passionately accept department of Tourism in his Ministry

Foreign Affairs and Tourism Minister, Given Lubinda has wholeheartedly welcomed the re-aligning of the department of tourism from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting to his Ministry.

Mr Lubinda said the re-alignment of the department of tourism into his ministry meant added responsibility for him and his officers but said he was ready to take up the work.

“For me it means added responsibility and more work. I will take the responsibility bestowed upon me by His Excellency President Sata,” he said

He told ZANIS in Las Vegas where he is attending the 40th Safari Club International annual Hunters’ convention in the United States of America, that the ministry will use Zambian Embassies abroad to aggressively market tourism while not forsaking local tourism.

He hoped that he would receive the similar support to promote tourism as he did when he was a Minister of Information, Broadcasting and Tourism.

On Thursday, President Michael Sata re-aligned the ministries of Foreign Affairs and Information and Broadcasting by taking away the component of Tourism from the latter to the former.

Mr Lubinda, who is fondly referred to as a tourist attraction himself by the President, was recently in the world’s biggest news networks following his bravery of Bungee jumping on a Victoria fall cliff in Livingstone

The confrontational hearts can’t even see any sense in whatever is done for goodness of operations. Sata is an archtect. Whatever he is creating he is doing it not for one man. Lubinda is capable but he is not indispensable. Many other guys can do that job. And its not that he is a product of UPND that makes him a good performer. Why did he leave UPND in the first place? I still draw your attention to the ‘almighty’- ‘King Cobra’ H.E. MC Sata, he is a great architect and will do alot for Zambia. This just 4 months with alot of radical changes. Once this realignment of structures and mindsets of people is done, which I believe would take about one year then you will see real change and development. He is aware what some little brain with shortsight are saying and making shortsighted comments. Sata has a bigger picture of Zambia’s development than some may think. He means well for Zambia. Give him support and the sky is not a limit, many people travel in the sky, some reach the moon and they are advancing towards Mass. Don’t look under your armpits only. Sata has a bigger picture for Zambia’development.

If President Sata and his Cabinet were susceptible to suggestions, I was going to suggest that some ministries should have departments or agencies to run the affairs such as culture, fisheries, forestry, tourism, social services. These agencies would be run better with directors rather than ministers attending to day to day affairs. It is easier to transfer a department to another ministry. We could have had only 12 to 13 Ministries and the rest being departments and this could avoid the ambiguities of having things like MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS AND TOURISM!!!
