PF scoops Namwala ward by-election

pfThe ruling Patriotic Front has scooped the Baambwe Ward in Chief Mukobela’s chiefdom of Namwala district.

Patriotic Front candidate Oliver Ndombe polled 392 votes followed by United Party for National Development (UPND) Victor Shiluwe who polled 348 votes and lastly the Movement for Multiparty Democracy candidate Goodwin Mulachi who got 28 votes .

Namwala Returning officer Gibson Mweemba declared PF’s candidate Oliver Ndombe winner of the Baambwe Ward by elections at 21:40 hours last night after pouring 392 votes out of a total votes cast of 772 votes while a total of 4 votes were spoiled votes.

The Namwala Baambwe Ward fell vacant after Mr Ndombe who has since retained the seat, resigning from the former ruling party MMD on whose ticket he stood in 2011 general elections and was the only MMD candidate out of the 14 Wards in Namwala district at the time.

Mr Ndombe late last year decided to resign from MMD and joined PF where he was adopted  and scooped the seat yesterday under the ruling PF making him the only PF Councillor in Namwala district.

And Namwala PF District Chairman Felix Chibwe said that the scooping of the Namwala Baambwe Ward is a symbol that the party is growing in the district.

Mr Chibwe  said his executive in the district will do everything possible to make sure the ruling party scoops all the 14 wards and the parliamentary seat in  2016 general elections.

The Tonga speaking People of Namwala & Itezhi tezhi need to be lauded for voting for PF, a Party that stinks of naked tribalism as it is dominated by Notherners. Through this action the Nation now knows the “True Bantustans”. How many tribalists can vote for UPND in Luapula, Northern or their so-called Muchinga Province? Zambians wake up!

The ruling Patriotic Front (PF) has left the opposition UPND in no doubt about it’s intent to establish its authority in the Southern Province after convincingly winning Itezhi-tezhi’s Basanga Ward after polling 542 votes against UPND’s 139 votes.

    zambian politics is rotten

  16. conman   March 1, 2013 at 11:57

winning a ward by elections and you cerebrate is like attending Ncwala Ceremony and they slaughter that black bull of theirs and serve you the balls while they eat the steak. so bane don’t cerebrate a ward bye election win. the race is on. any party can win as many of these tuma wards as possible but power lies in Parliament the so called August House.

If you are a real patriotic Zambian then you can’t support these unnecessary by elections. These elections are just wasting paye instead of focusing on development.I voted for pf but am regreting coz whatever they promised where lies. Those still voting for them open your eyes coz they have no idea on how to run the country.Pliz let us think before we vote.

  19. Chief Puta   March 1, 2013 at 11:45

Hard luck upnd try next time and welldone pf.

  20. wilson mozah   March 1, 2013 at 11:43

The opposition has a chance of winning elections if only they merge. When you count the votes for upnd and mmd and add them together they much up to the pf votes. So opposition set aside your differences and work as a unit.

  21. Tikwiza   March 1, 2013 at 11:42

I cannot believe that we as Zambians have been cast with a stinking spell and it seems to be working.Since PF (our party)came into power, we seem to cost of running the country hit the roof.In the name of streghtening our party we are encouraging more bye elections which is costing the country/me a lot of money and we seem to be happy about it instead of discouraging it.Cry my beloved country and pray to God to remove this curse.

  29. Firebrand   March 1, 2013 at 10:42

People, stop making the mistake that Namwala is Tonga. Namwala is actually Ila. Ila is one of the bantu botatwe languages: Tonga, Ila, Lenje.

The Ila are not very tribalist.

UPND would have one if this election was in a Tonga ward.

    • Ho   March 1, 2013 at 10:47

But HH is ila! He is from near the same area of namwala but moe of monze. Point of correction: We have Tonga-leya, tonga-we Tonga-Ila and Lenje-Tonga where the first two are taken as Tongas and the rest made distinct!

    • Kayombo   March 1, 2013 at 11:22

HH is Ila, so Pf tribalist stop acusing the SP of being tribal.

    • ila   March 1, 2013 at 12:47

HH is Ila, useful idiots…and that is not y I support him. I support him because there is no better grey matter on the zambian political scene
