24-hours after voting, no official results for Lukulu

The UPND has won the Lukulu parliamentary by-election by more than 2500 votes but the ECZ is still scared to announce the results.

Voting closed on Tuesday at 18 hours but by Wednesday at 18 hours, the ECZ had said nothing.

UPND deputy secretary general Kuchunga Simusamba  told the Watchdog that according to his party’s Parallel Voter Tabulation, the UPND has won comfortably.

He said his party is wondering why the ECZ is delaying to announce the results.

He said this is the first time in the history of Zambia that results of a by-election has taken this long to be announced.

The PF struggled to beat the UPND in Kapiri and the results were only announced after 14 hours.

According to insiders, the UPND believes it won the Kapiri by-election and will petition the results announced by the ECZ.
