Three people have died on the spot while 11 others have been injured in an accident along the Great North road near 10 miles area when the bus they were travelling overturned due to alleged over speeding.
The accident involving a Toyota Hiace BAC 314 and carrying mainly pupils happened in mid morning today and the bodies of the deceased who include the conductor and two pupils are deposited in the UTH mortuary.
Of the injured, eight are said to have sustained very serious injuries and in critical condition while the other three are in a stable condition. They are all in the University Teaching Hospital.
The Great North road has remained a death trap leading to many accidents and many people have called for the expansion of the road and improved traffic patrols. The worst accident recently involved a Lusaka bound Post bus in which 55 people perished.
