Parliament today heard that 95 women were promoted to decision making positions in the public service between 2006 and 2008.
Gender in Development Deputy Minister Lucy Changwe told parliament that out of the 95, 32 took over their positions from men.
Ms Changwe said of those promoted were two(2)at the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), 11 from the Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC).
She said other promotions were 23 in the Judiciary, 5 at the Ministry of Commerce Trade and Industry (MCTI), 6 at the Ministry of Defence and 7 in the Ministry of Education (MOE).
Ms. Changwe added that Cabinet Office had 5, the Ministry of Local Government and Housing (MLGH) 4 while 15 were at the office of the Auditor General.
Ms. Changwe was responding to Mandevu Member of Parliament (MP) Jean Kapata who wanted to know how many women were promoted in the public service between 2006 and 2008.
