PF govt to allow prisoners to vote in August polls

The outgoing PF government has resolved to allow prisoners to vote in the August 11 general election.
Home Affairs ‘illegal’ Minister Davis Mwila told the PF controlled Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation (ZNBC) on Friday that all inmates with voters’ registration cards will be allowed to vote during the August 11 general election.
Mwila claimed that the law provides for the inmates to exercise their right to vote just the same way they are allowed to continue with their education while in prison.
It is however not clear whether political parties will be allowed to campaign to the ‘voters’ in prison.
