ACC concludes probe into UNWTO corruption

The Anti-Corruption Commission has concluded investigations into the case where some contracts were dubiously awarded to contractors and suppliers during the run up to the United Nations World Tourism Organization General Assembly.

ACC Public Relations Manager Timothy Moono has disclosed that the commission will soon state its position after analyzing the available evidence.

The investigations were launched after Auditor General Anna Chifungala suspected corruption.

The contracts were dubiously awarded without following laid down procedure, forcing government to spend huge amounts of public funds.

Zambia and Zimbabwe co-hosted the UNWTO general in August 2013.
