The Anti Corruption Commission says it has extended investigations into the dubious procurement of Police VIP Escort Vehicles to South Africa.

Anti Corruption Commission Director General Godfrey Kayukwa said in a statement Wednesday that in addition to information obtained locally, it has been become necessary to travel to South Africa to carry out further investigations.

A combined investigations team consisting of officers from the Drug Enforcement Commission, Zambia Police, the Zambia Intelligence Security Services and the Anti Corruption Commission recently recorded a warn and caution statement from Inspector General of Police Francis Kabonde and his predecessor Ephraim Mateyo in connection with the procurement of the vehicles and motor bikes.
Mr Kabonde who was Commissioner of Police at the time signed for the payment of money to Instrumentation for Traffic Law Enforcement (pty) Limited of South Africa.
