ACC nabs Top Motors MD over hearses bribe

The anti Corruption Commission-ACC has arrested Top Motors Managing Director Liang Ge for attempting to bribe an officer from the Commission.

Mr. Liang allegedly offered the officer K50 Million to destroy evidence surrounding the buying of 100 hearses.

He allegedly gave the ACC officer K15 Million cash gratification as inducement to destroy the evidence.

ACC Spokesperson Timothy Moono has confirmed the arrest to ZNBC News.

The ACC is investigating issues surrounding the buying of 100 hearses and 60 light trucks meant for the Keep Zambia Clean Campaign, from Top Motors.

The ACC instituted investigations into the purchase of the hearses after late Local Government Minister, Benny Tetamashimba reported the matter to the commission.

The late minister had alleged that the hearses which were bought at $29,000 each were supposed to cost less than $10,000 each.
