African leaders urged to accept election results

United Party for National Development (UPND) leader Hakainde Hichilema has advised African heads of state to accept election results and step down graciously when their time is up.

Commenting on the capture of incumbent Ivorian President Laurent Gbagbo who refused to step down after losing the country’s polls, Hichilema said the behaviour of African leaders is embarrassing and detrimental.

He further said the mentality of Presidents clinging to power is undemocratic and does not show a good example to the youths, adding that politicians should learn from Ivory Coast and desist from such acts.
