After failing to provide inputs on time, Mutati says govt keen to collect tax from agro sector

After mismanaging this year’s farming season, Minister of Finance Felix Mutati says government needs a thriving agriculture sector to diversify the economy and collect more tax from the sector.
Mutati said this today during a consultative meeting with the Tobacco Association and the Poultry Association of Zambia.
And Agriculture Minister Dora Siliya who was also in attendance hallucinated that government’s interest was to grow the agro sector and create ‘millions’ of jobs in the agro sector.
Zambia’s food security is on the line due to gross mismanagement of the fertilizer and input distribution. With only two weeks remaining before March sets in, many farmers across the country are still waiting for delivery of the inputs.
