Again Sakeni says nothing sensible on constitution making process

Republic of Zambia

Ministry of Information and Broadcasting  Services

STATEMENT BY HON. KENNEDY SAKENI, MP, MINISTER OF INFORMATION AND BROADCASTING SERVICES AND CHIEF GOVERNMENT SPOKESPERSON ON THE CONSTITUTION REVIEW PROCESS

Government wishes to refute claims by some opposition leaders that the ongoing constitution review process is going nowhere, as reported in some sections of the media.

The assertions are misplaced and misleading.

To the contrary, Government is on course to deliver a people driven Constitution in line with its Party Manifesto.

This can be seen in among other things, the transparent and inclusive manner in which the constitution review process has gone so far.

Zambians from all walks of life among them youths, women, the clergy, farmers, students, politicians and traditional rulers, have, and continue to participate effectively and actively in shaping the principal law of the land.

A good and durable Constitution is key to achieving sustainable social and economic development.

This is why Government is eager to have the constitution review process concluded on time in deepening the country’s democracy and development.
