Former Secretary to the Cabinet Aldridge Adamson is dead.

Adamson passed away on October 2, 2009 in Cape Town South Africa, according to State House spokesperson Dickson Jere.

And Jere says President Rupiah Banda said Adamson contributed greatly to the development of the nation when he served as Secretary to the Cabinet until his retirement.

After being retired by former president Fredrick Chiluba,  Adamson relocated to South Africa.

“He rendered several years of loyal and distinguished service to Zambia and demonstrated hard work. His death is not just a loss to the family but the entire nation,” President Banda said in a letter to the widow Mrs. Jean Adamson.

President Banda urged Zambians to use the death of Mr. Adamson as an opportunity to celebrate his life, achievements and contributions he made to the development of Zambia.

“Our prayers go to you and the entire family during this difficult time. We pray that the almighty God gives you the strength to endure the pain of loss,” President Banda said.
