The Emergency Council of the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) will be held at the Zambezi Source Lodge in Kabwe on Saturday 27 November 2010, according to FAZ Communications Manager Erick Mwanza.
And two FIFA representatives are expected in Zambia to witness Saturday’s meeting to be chaired by association president Kalusha Bwalya.
Mwanza has explained that the shift of venue from the Masiye Motel has been necessitated by the Zambezi Source Lodge greater capacity to host over 400 delegates.
He said the time, which is 10:00hours on Saturday morning for the start of the meeting remains unchanged.
Mwanza said all delegates and the members of FAZ should disregard any misleading statements especially those being perpetuated by Simataa Simataa stating that the former FAZ chairman who resigned his position years back had no authority to call or sanction any FAZ meetings.
Mwanza said Simataa’s meeting was a not a FAZ meeting and its agenda unknown to the football family.
“We have nothing to do with the meeting as purported by Mr Simataa because the only council meeting will be held at the Zambezi Source Lodge in Kabwe.
Only the FAZ general secretary has authority to call a meeting for FAZ and not any other persons. That is why Mr Simataa has been summoned by one of the judicial bodies of FAZ for sanctions.”
Mwanza also commended other members of FAZ who had championed media campaigns with calls for an emergency meeting for coming forward to distance themselves from Simataa’s media crusade.
And a group of people today met in Lusaka and agreed to call their gathering a “FAZ meeting.’
In attendance were people like Simataa Simataa and former Kitwe mayor Lackson Kazabu and a host of others.
