Youth and Sport Minister, Chishimba Kambwili says it is wrong for anybody to judge the Patriotic Front (PF) government on job creation when it has just been in office for the past eight months.
Mr Kambwili, whose party won on the promise of turning around the country within 90, says job creation is not an easy task but that government is determined to ensure that it creates jobs for its citizenry.
On Saturday, a mob of youths booed President Michael Sata at show grounds when they kept chanting ‘we want jobs’.
The youths have threatened to continue booing the PF leaders, including President Sata, over jobs.
But speaking when he addressed a public rally at Kasengu grounds in Mpatamato Township in Luanshya this afternoon, Mr Kambwili assured the people the government is alive to the challenge of job creation and will make this promise a reality.
He said the PF government is aware of the challenge of unemployment in Luanshya and that the issue is receiving active attention.
Mr Kambwili said government is also aware that it cannot create jobs for all Zambians but that it will do its best in ensuring that as many Zambians as possible are employed.
“You can’t judge job creation in eight months but we are equal to the task of creating as many jobs as possible,” he said.
