Dear editor, It is disheartening to see simple minded cadres celebrating the amendments which have little benefits to the general citizens. All the clauses being sung about are benefiting the politician and his cohorts.
The clauses that are of benefit to the people of Zambia are left out. The bill of Rights is key to us. Retirees are suffering for non payment of the benefits. There was a clause in the draft that would protect the retired public servants. No one is bothering to talk about it. The retiree was to remain on payrol until govt pays the benefits.
This was a progressive law to protect the people that serve the country with deligence. Is this clause part of the amendments? The NAPSA act which deprives workers of their lump sum benefits is another silent issue.
Workers have been crying for reduced retirement age, the cry has not been heeded. Let the presidency and politicians be reasonable. They should not only concentrate on their belly.
WE NEEDED THE BILL OF RIGHTS. WITHOUT IT NO VOTE.
