Lusaka Magistrate Joshua Banda has convicted and sentenced Andrew Banda, the son to former president Rupiah Banda, to two years imprisonment with hard labour for soliciting money from Fratolli Locci.
In his ruling today, magistrate Banda said the prosecution team proved that Mr. Banda solicited for a 2 percent as payment for all road contracts that were given to Mr. Locci’s company.
The state blackmailed and turned Mr. Banda’s co-accused, Mr. Locci into a state witness during trial.
Part of the blackmail was that Mr. Locci should testify against his accomplice so that he can continue getting road contracts from the PF government and also being prevented from prosecuted and imprisonment.
The two year sentence is effective today.
