Andrew Banda is the first born son of former president Rupiah Banda and is former deputy High Commissioner to India.

He is currently in Zambia and under arrest on suspicion of soliciting for a payment from an Italian construction firm and over money suspected to be proceeds of crime.

The PF government fired Andrew from his diplomatic post in India a few weeks ago.

But Andrew’ court cases are not moving causing great inconvenience to his family currently in India.

Last Friday, July 6, the case could not take off again as the state prosecutors said they were not ready.

The same story was cited as reason for failing to proceed with the matter on June 20, as was the case in two previous postponements.
Andrew has already complained that the change of court dates was inconveniencing as he wanted to get his name cleared by the courts so he could walk with his head high.

But the immediate problem is his family in India which is stranded following his being fired.

He was fired while in Zambia and the family is waiting for him to go to India and shift to Zambia.

But the government is said to be refusing to allow him to go and get his family and property.
