The Anti Voter Apathy Project (AVAP) has expressed concern at the delay by Acting President Guy Scott to announce the date for presidential by-election.
And AVAP says the wrangles in the ruling Patriotic Front (PF) should not affect the holding of the by-election.
AVAP Executive Director Richwell Mulwani has told QFM News in an interview that Dr. Scott should know that the 90 days in which to hold the by-election is elapsing each day that passes hence the need for him to announce the date without further delay.
Mr. Mulwani says Dr. Scott should liaise with the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) and come up with a date so that people start planning for the by-election.
He adds that the acting President should show leadership by setting the election date without necessarily waiting for the Patriotic Front to resolve its succession wrangles.
Mr Mulwani wonders why the Acting President has kept quiet on the matter when he knows that by now he should have announce the date for holding the by-election.
