Three miners have suffered burns at Mopani Copper Mine-MCM-Nkana division in Kitwe barely a day after 280 miners were trapped underground after a power outage.
The accident happened Thursday evening as the three electrical artisans were working on a faulty substation at the plant.
The sub-station had earlier caught fire on Wednesday evening after attempts to restore power following a power outage that plunged the mine into darkness.
Initial investigations by the Mine Safety Department indicate that the latest accident was caused by human error.
The three are currently receiving medical attention at Wusakile Mine Hospital in Kitwe.
Mopani Copper Mines Spokesperson Cephas Sinyangwe is yet to give a detailed report on the latest accident at the mine.
