The Supreme Court has nullified the Mulobezi parliamentary seat in Western Province which was held by United Party for National Development (UPND) member of Parliament, Hastings Sililo.
Sililo’s election has been nullified on grounds that his victory was marred with bribery and other forms of electoral malpractices.
Justice Elizabeth Muyovwe said the trial judge misdirected herself when she dispelled allegations that there was widespread giving out of gifts and donations in the constituency before, during and after elections.
Losing Patriotic Front (PF) candidate Albertina Pota Mwanamwalye had petitioned the election victory in the High Court where Judge Anesi Bobo-Banda threw it out with costs.
Mwanamwalye then appealed to the Supreme Court.
