Another by-election has arisen after the Supreme Court upheld the ruling by the High Court to nullify the 2011 election results of former Mines Minister Maxwell Mwale as Malambo Constituency in Eastern province.
The ruling PF that now controls the judiciary petitioned the election of Mr. Mwale citing several irregularities including use of government resources which the PF is also doing in every by-election.
Former Zambian dictator Kenneth Kaunda’s son Kaweche Kaunda petitioned the Malambo results after he lost to Mr. Mwale soon after the 2011 elections.
The ruling now means another by-election will have to be held at the cost of close to K10 billion in Malambo.
The PF petitioned more than 60 election results after they won elections in 2011 and more are still awaiting ruling in court.
