Another headache for PF, High Court says Kakoma should re-contest Zambezi West

police2A Lusaka High Court has thrown out an application by losing PF Zambezi West parliamentary candidate Christabel Ngimbu that sought to block UPND candidate Charles Kakoma from filing in his nomination papers tomorrow.

High Court Judge Judy Mulongoti said in her ruling today Monday 11 August 2014 that she found no reason why Charles Kakoma should be stopped from filing in his nomination papers tomorrow.

The losing PF candidate had lodged an application in the Lusaka High court asking the court to block Charles Kakoma from re-contesting the Zambezi West parliamentary seat.

The ECZ has set August 12,2014 as the date for filing of nomination papers for parliamentary candidates in five constituencies.

The constituencies that will have by-elections on September 11,2014 are Zambezi West, Vubwi, Solwezi Central, Kasenengwa and Mkushi South.

Today’s ruling by Judge Mulongoti is a very big blow to the Patriotic Front because the party had hoped to use the ruling to block other candidates from filing in their nomination papers.
