Another PF election petitioner loses, given bill

High Court Judge, Annie Sitali Tuesday morning dismissed with costs an election petition filed by losing patriotic front Senanga central parliamentary candidate,Maina Akabondo Wamunyima against the election of Likando Mufalali of the UPND in the September 20th General Elections.

Judge Sitali who sat as Mongu High Court made the ruling Monday morning in Lusaka saying the petitioner failed to prove that the grounds of petition were in contravention of the electoral code of conduct on the part of defence.

The petition who was represented by Kelvin Bwalya of KBF and associates called 4 witnesses who could however not satisfy Judge Sitali on the claims of character assassination, vote buying and voter intimidation by the defence which was represented by the Central Chambers.

And speaking after the verdict, Likando Mufalali applauded Judge Sitali’s professionalism throughout the trial which lasted three weeks, saying it was now time to concentrate on initiating and implementing developmental projects for the people of Senanga central.

Mufalali added that the people’s choice had been vindicated by the judgement and promised to ensure the he executed his mandate as provided by the electorates to the best of his and the UPND’s abilities.
