Another PF Minister chased by Kanyama residents

KANYAMA area member of Parliament Gerry Chanda says he is finding it difficult to enhance development of the constituency because of some hostile residents, according to the state owned but PF propaganda newspaper Zambia Daily Mail.

Mr. Chanda has become the latest among the PF MPs that are being chased or booed by residents in their areas for failing to live-up to their fake 2011 PF election promises.

According to the Daily Mail, Colonel Chanda said whenever he goes to volatile Chibolya Township, in particular, to share his developmental plans, the machete-wielding residents chase him away.

“Just some two weeks ago I went to Chibolya with JICA (Japan International Co-operation Agency) to inform the people about putting up community toilets in the area, only to find people waiting for me with machetes. I had to run for my life,” Col Chanda said in an interview.

He said, however, that Government will still go ahead and construct community toilets in the constituency as soon as the rainy season ends.

He said that he is concerned about the inadequacy of toilets in the constituency.

While his party cheated and was voted into office based on development within 90 days, Chanda said the people of Kanyama have to understand that development is not done in a day, adding that it takes time because there is planning involved.

Last week, another PF Munali Member of Parliament (MP) Nkandu Luo was chased by people from her constituency in Lusaka’s Mtendere compound when she tried to tour and inspect some places.

And Defence Minister Edgar Lungu was also forced to abandon a PF party meeting in Chawama compound, according to Daily Nation reports.

Luo, who is also Chiefs and Traditional Affairs Minister, went with some PF Councilors in the area and attempted to inspect a damaged bridges and some water and sanitation situation in the area. But a mob of mainly women and youths immediately descended on her and started shouting ‘hule’ ‘hule’ ‘hule’ teti liwine kuno (prostitute you cant win here) as others were shouting ‘aleisa’ ‘aleisa’ ‘aleisa’ ‘aleisa’ in an apparent reference to the UPND slogan.

This forced Ms. Luo and her entourage to immediately abandon the tour of the ‘developmental projects’ in the area as the mob around her grew and also started shouting ‘useless minister’ and ‘useless MP’ in reference to president Michael Sata’s public humiliation and description of his Cabinet Ministers and MPs.

Hostility against PF MPs is growing around the country with Nchanga MP in Chingola’s Copperbelt Wilbur Simuusa, also being chased away by min-bus and tax-drivers when he attempted poor road infrastructure in the area.

All PF ministers and MPs are now forced to drive in heavily tinted brand new vehicles where they are not seen by people.
