Four people died on the spot while eight others sustained serious injuries in a road accident in Mukunchi area, about 50 kilo meters from Kabwe when the truck they were travelling in overturned and caught fire yesterday.
Kapiri Mponshi Police officer in charge, Martin Mooka, confirmed the development to ZANIS, saying the truck was carrying commandos on a mission to retrieve the five bodies that had drowned in Mita Dam last week.
Mooka said the commandos were coming from Ndola’s Mushili Barracks while the cox swan was from a Mufulira engineering company when the driver lost control before the truck overturned.
The driver and three officers died on the spot, burning the three commandoes beyond recognition around 15:00 hours when the accident happened while one died around 18:00 hours at Mukunchi clinic.
And clinic officer, Matthews Sichamba said the three injured among the eight are in critical condition and have since been referred to Kabwe General Hospital for treatment.
