Another ZRA Director under probe for corruption

The dismissal of former Director of Investigations at the Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) George Siame opened a pandora box. Mubamba Sichilongo the Assistant Director Investigations is being probed for theft and fraud after allegations that while stationed at Chirundu Border, he cleared a number of Posh Mercedes Benz Cars as Toyota Corolla’s and pocketed the surplus.
A source has disclosed that Sichilongo used to clear Mercedes Benz vehicles as Corrolas when he was stationed at Chirundu and the Human resources department is aware of this but Siame then Director of Investigations and very influential transfered Sichilongo to from Chirundu to the head office and promoted him as Assistant Director Investigations.

Now that Siame is not around, the case has been revived and the Anti Corruption Commission will be asked to come in.
“You know this Sichilongo comes from the same village with Siame. So when the HR Department opened investigations against Sichilongo,Siame stopped the investigations as you know he was very influential. Now that he is gone it has been discovered from one of the files in Siame’s office that he was protecting Sichilongo, so the board wants the case revived” the source said.
The source said very soon the board will be sitting to consider Siame’s replacement.

“The ZRA board is soon to sit to consider Siame’s replacement and two names are already in circulation. We have a Mr. Derrick Choonga who is in-charge of ZRA Livingstone and Joseph Nonde Assistant Director Tax Mining at the ZRA headquarters” the source said.Last week the ZRA board recommended the dismissal of George Siame after the Zambian Watchdog exposed his corruption activities.
