Armed men grab K23 000 from Kabwe Western union

Barely two weeks after armed bandits grabbed over K150, 000 from Big Bite Restaurant and take away in broad day light in Kabwe, yesterday three armed men grabbed K23,000 from the Western Union branch at Narms’ building on Buntungwa street.
The thieves stormed the office just shortly before 18:00hrs when the cashier was getting ready to lock the office after balancing the transactions of the day and held her at gun point before collecting all the cash from the office and left her locked inside.
The terrified lone cashier was only rescued after police were informed who came to unlock the doors long after the bandits had fled.
Kabwe residents talked to called for the reinstatement of volunteer anti robbery officers who were banned from patrols. But some policemen have blamed provincial police commissioner Standwell Lungu whom they have accused of failing to run the command as he is usually out of town attending to personal problems at the expense of providing supervision.
