Zambia Army Commander, Wisdom Lopa has advised soldiers in the country to gather in numbers and vote in the September 20 elections.
Lopa told sky fm, that it is vital for defense personnel to vote wisely and exercise their democratic right as they too are citizens of Zambia.
He urged soldiers and the general public to maintain peace and tranquility prior to, during, and after elections as violence is not only detrimental but also has the potential to derail the nation.
Meanwhile, Eastern Province Permanent Secretary, Ularia Siamujai Mwale appealed to Civil Servants to desist from participating in active politics as such is illegal.
Mwale said Civil Servants must be non-partisan at all times despite their political affiliation as they are servants of the nation.
She further cautioned Public Service workers who want to participate in politics to resign from their positions so that they are free to contest elections.
