More dirty dealings by the bogus contractor Asphalt Roads Zambia (ARZ) have emerged, the company in connivance with the offices of Kabwe District Commissioner and Central provincial administration unit funded an ‘empowerment’ workshop for PF women’s club to a tune of K42,000.
Last week, selected women from the PF were handed various small scale manufacturing equipment by Kabwe DC Patrick Chishala after attending a workshop held at the Boma hall in Kabwe. The function was attended by PF MPs James Kapyanga and Sydney Mushanga, PF councilors and Mayor Moses Mwansa at DC’s office premises.
However, an investigation by the Zambian Watchdog has revealed that ARZ released K50,000, of which K42,000 was used to buy an assortment of equipment while K8,000 cash was given to Chishala as contingency fund. We challenge ARZ and government to deny this, because we have details of the bank and cheque number that was used in this stinky deal, and the ARZ official who delivered the contraband.
Chishala, a former primary school teacher is a distant relation to one of ailing dictator Michael Sata’s wives Dr. Christine Kaseba and prior to his appointment he stole Church offering at St. Mark’s UCZ Church, he was also apprehended for stealing from Shoprite supermarket. With the cool cash from ARZ, we wonder how much reached the PF women.
This comes after ARZ and government recently differed over delayed payments and threatened to abandon the project but government gave the company additional kilometers’ work at an inflated rate and had the contract time frame extended.
