Police service spokesperson, Elizabeth Kanjela confirmed. Kanjela said Liato has not yet been charged but just detained.
Kanjela further disclosed that investigations are still going on.
Lawyers representing Liato have declined to comment claiming that it is too early.
Liato was detained at exactly 20:00 hours, after law enforcement agencies conducted another search at his Kalundu residence for close to three hours.
Earlier in the day, Liato appeared before law enforcement officers at the defunct Task force on Corruption offices in Lusaka’s Woodlands residential area in connection with K2.1 billion which was buried at his Lusaka West farm.
