The latest flier written in Lozi language titled ‘Barosteland’ and bold-headed ‘An announcement to the people of Barotseland’ is being circulated at some busy market places, taxi ranks and bus stations telling people not to contribute tax to the council and the Road Transport and Safety Agency (RATSA) with immediate effect.
The fliers which have been read by most taxi and minibus operators in the area urges people not to pay any tax to the mentioned authorities because the Barotse Royal Establishment (B.R.E) feels residents are not benefiting despite them paying tax.
The document further advises people that if anyone gives them problems for not wanting to pay tax, such should visit the B. R. E Kuta (Traditional court) and advises people not to fight with anyone but just refuse to pay.
The leaflet has no signatory but ends with a title ‘Barosteland’.
