Barotseland activists to hold public rally in Mongu

Barotseland activists are scheduled to have a public rally on Friday 2nd October in Mongu to address ‘matters patterning to Barotseland.’

According to a statement released by the Barotse National Freedom Alliance (BNFA), the purpose of the public rally is to share information on the Barotseland issue and to provide accurate information on the actualisation of Barotseland’s statehood.

‘Barotse nationals will be holding a public rally on Friday 2nd October 2015 at Blue Gums ground in Mongu from 14 hours to 18 hours,’ reads part of the statement.

Among the people expected to speak is the former Ngambela or Prime Minister of Barotseland and current Chairman General of the BNFA Clement Sinyinda and his deputy Mutungulu Wanga.

This will be the first time that Barotseland activists will be holding a public rally since the abortive meeting of 11th January 2011 which was violently crashed by the Zambia Police.

The PF Police was served with a notice by the BNFA on 25th September 2015 of the intention to hold the rally. More rallies are expected to take place in other towns in the coming weeks.
