The Bemba Royal Establishment (BRE) has urged UPND Leader Hakainde Hichilema to honour his pledge to recognize Henry Kanyanta Sosala as Paramount Chief Chitimukulu if voted into office as republican President.
BRE Spokesperson Washanga Impika Shalubemba has told QFM News in a telephone interview that people want politicians to honor their promises.
Washanga says it will be disappointing if Mr. Hichilema, God willing is voted into office, and fails to recognize Mr. Sosala.
He says the time has come for Zambians to begin holding politicians accountable for the promises they make during campaigns.
He says if Mr. Hichilema means well and will honor his promise, the people of Kasama will forevermore be grateful to the UPND leader.
Washanga states that the Bemba Royal Establishment is not happy that up to now Mr. Sosala has not yet been recognized by government as the chosen one to lead the Bemba speaking people considering that the correct procedure in selecting him was followed.
The BRE Spokesperson has since advised all presidential candidates who will take part in the forthcoming presidential by-election to ensure that they promise things they will not have difficulties fulfilling.
