More than 250 youths from various constituencies in Lusaka yesterday resigned from their political parties to joined the UPND during the press briefing addressed by opposition leader Hakainde Hichilema.
The youths, who were mainly MMD, were led by former Lusaka province MMD squad members Norman Sakala, popularly known as Bobo, who came with 35 youths from Munali, Sydney Mulenga with 50 former PF youths from Matero, and a groupd of 17 women from Syantumbu area in Kabwata also from MMD while a Mr. Mainza led a group of 172 MMD youths from Kanyama.
And speaking on behalf of defectors, Sydney Mulenga said it was time Zambia moved forward and voted for quality leaders regardless of tribe, race or religion.
The youths who arrived in style some wearing masks which they unveiled during the introduction said they were there to strengthen the UPND and offer personal security to the opposition leader, Hakainde Hichilema.
Former UPND Itezhi-Tezhi Member of Parliament Godfrey Beene also rejoined the UPND from PF together with some PF youths in Lusaka.
