Botswana minister advises Zambian opposition

-Minister of Environment, Wildlife and Tourism in Botswana Tshekedi Kharma has advised opposition political parties to work with the government of the day in order to foster development in the country, according to PF government news agency Zanis

Speaking to Journalists in Livingstone today, Mr Kharma said Zambia belongs to everyone regardless of their political afflictions and should strive to work with government for the positive benefit of every one.

He noted that the problem with some political parties in the opposition is that they see their role is just of opposing the government in power without looking at the plight of their people they represent.

He said Botswana is doing much better than Zambia in that its opposition plays a part in making important decisions meant to better the lives of the people they represent as well as for themselves.

Mr Kharma noted that there are those political parties that do not want to work with government and it is only best to leave them out as just opposing will not push development forward.

“It is important for the Zambian government to work with the opposition that is willing to bring them on board on discussions and develop policies and make decisions that will bring development”, he said.

He added that just opposing holds back development for the very people they are representing.

Mr Kharma disclosed that in his country (Botswana) the Republican President holds quarterly meetings to inform the people on what programs government has for them.
