One US Dollar is now selling at K12: 60 at Zambian National Commercial Bank. The Pound is selling at K19: 27 while a Euro is selling for close to K14: 00.
Meanwhile, bakeries on the Copperbelt have started quoting prices of bread and rolls in US Dollars.
And the Botswana Pula has now become stronger than the Zambian KwachaOne Botswana Pula gets K1.18 when a few weeks ago, one Kwacha was fetching almost two pula.
It is predicted that by tomorrow or early next week if not this afternoon, the South Africa Rand would also be stronger than the Kwacha. Currently, one Kwacha equals 1.09 Rands.
Normally, the Rand and Pula are stronger than the Kwacha, but following the rebasing of the Kwacha, the Kwacha gained against the Rand and Pula artificially or on paper only.
