British High commissioner says he responded to Edwin Sakala

British High Commissioner to Zambia Tom Carter says he responded to the petition by the Forum for Political parties on his alleged meddling in the internal affairs of Zambia.

Carter was quoted by Lusaka’s Hot FM radio early morning news Sunday saying that he wrote to the forum about a week ago.

Carter did not disclose what exactly he told the Forum led by Edwin Sakala but said the matter was now closed.

The Forum of political parties in Zambia petitioned the British High Commission asking it to stop meddling in the internal affairs of the country.

Last week, Sakala complained that the commission did not respond and accused Britain of still being imperialistic.

The forum also asked foreign affairs minister Kabinga Pande to start the process of having Carter withdrawn from Zambia.

Carter is alleged to have made some comments on the acquittal of former president Fredrick Chiluba. He said the acquittal surprised him.
