The continued failure by the broke PF regime to fund government institutions and the employment freeze has now severely hit the Lusaka City Council.
The Lusaka City Council has been forced to casualise all the job positions it has filled in the past 18 months due to lack of money.
On Tuesday October 7, 2014 (this week), newly employed council workers were greeted by letters informing them that they were now casual workers as their positions have been reverted.
“This serves to inform you that following the employment free imposed on government institutions and due to the financial position, it has been decided that you be reverted to the position of casual worker with immediate effect,’ wrote Namukolo Kalufyanya, the Human Resource Director to all general workers who were employed on August 18, 2014 and before.
To make matters worse, the affected workers had not been paid from the time they were employed.
The government is failing to fund hospitals, universities, the military and other institutions but claims that they are building infrastructure.
The watchdog is reliably informed that the PF government is borrowing heavily to fund the so-called infrastructure development and that it is just a matter of time before the debt becomes unsustainable and government runs out of money for the same road projects.
