Construction of new State House could have started last month had the IMF approved Zambia’s loan in April, the ZWD has been informed.
Senior state House officials have revealed that the architectural designs of the new State House have already been completed.
State house officials say the only reason construction has not started is because the International Monetary fund has not yet approved the loan to Zambia. Lungu, say his assistants, wants to be the first one to occupy the new building but fears that if construction starts now, the IMF might withhold their money.
‘Just wait and see how fast they will build that thing once the IMF gives us the money. EL wants to shift to new state house before the end of 2018,’ a State house official said.
Avic International and other local firms owned by Lungu’s financiers have already been given the contract.
