The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has announced the list of candidates aspiring to serve as office bearers on the Executive Committee for the period 2016 to 2020.
The FAZ Legal Committee chaired by Sukwanu Lukangaba recently announced that candidates will contest for the positions of president, vice – president, treasurer and executive committee members.
Current Faz president Kalusha Bwalya will be seeking a third term at the elections which will take place during the 2016 Elective Annual General Meeting on March 19. He will be challenged by Henchel Chitembeya Nyirenda and Andrew Kamanga.
Vice – president Boniface Mwamelo, seeking a second term, will be challenged by Chisala Mofya, Katongo Kephas, Richard Kazala and Pivoty Simwanza.
The position of Treasurer will be contested by incumbent Rixie Mweemba, who is expected to go unopposed after Alex Munasha, his only challenger, was disqualified after failing to meet the minimum experience required at club level.
Twenty seven candidates will contest for six executive committee member positions.
The qualified contestants are Andrew Banda, Violet Bwalya Kasenge, Eutrasia Chambeshi, Elijah Shenko Chileshe, Stanely Chilimunda, Jeffrey Chipilingu, Mike Chirwa, Francis Hafwiti, Arthur Kamuloso, Kabaso Kapambwe, Gabriel Kaunda and Lee Kawanu.
Others are Brenda Kunda, Jordan Maliti, Alex Mambwe, Kennedy Matashi, Nellie Miyamba
Victor Mpundu, Dr. Joseph Mulenga, Happie Munkondya, Watson Mwale, Gideon Mwenya, Lenny Sampa Nkhuwa, Felix Nsama, Timothy Phiri, Edwin Sisya and Blackwell Siwale.
Adrian Kashala and James Mpooma were disqualified on account of being sponsored by the same club (Nkwazi) contrary to article 26.5 section 5 of the FAZ constitution.
Alex Basopo Njobvu was also disqualified on grounds of not belonging to any club.
All disqualified candidates have been given seven days to appeal.
Qualified candidates must send names of their agents to the Secretary of the Legal Committee at Football house within seven days effective Saturday, February 27.
