Captain Mwamba Luchembe says attacking HH is making him more popular

Captain Mwamba Luchembe says people attacking Hakainde Hichilema are just making him more popular.

And PF Deputy Secretary General Mumbi Phiri has said she does not believe that Hichilema was attacked on the Copperbelt because the story was reported by the Zambian Watchdog.

Captain Luchembe, the leader of the 1990 abortive coup against Kenneth Kaunda’s dictatorial government told Joy FM Radio Thursday that UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema has the right to visit any place without a police permit. He said those who are attacking and following Hichilema with stones are making him more popular.

Captain Luchembe said co-existence was very important and stressed that democracy means having divergent views adding that if some people feel that Hichilema mutilated their structures on the Copperbelt they should also go there and counter his message instead of using stones.

‘If you think he poached your people go and convince them to come back not throwing stones, don’t harass Hichilema if he is doing his own things,’ Captain Luchembe said.

He warned that the things that Zambians were taking to be petty will one day lead the country to full scale fighting and people will have nowhere to run to.

Meanwhile Captain Luchembe has observed that when the country faces drought leaders call the church to meet at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross to pray for rains but when God answers and the country has a bumper harvest there are no prayers called to thank God but instead people (politicians) resort to boasting over the harvest.

And PF Deputy Secretary General Mumbi Phiri has said she does not believe that Hichilema was attacked on the Copperbelt because the story was reported by the Zambian Watchdog.

She said she will verify the matter today Thursday before giving a response on Friday but was quick in her attempt to defend the PF by claiming that there are thugs masquerading as PF members.

Mumbi further claimed that she has never called Hichilema a ‘Kachema’ nor has she ever said he will never rule Zambia.

She went on to call a chief she did not name from Southern Province as being misguided for attacking her over the alleged Kachema statement.

‘I never called HH a Kachema but the problem is that UPND has shallow minded people and a misguided Chief attacks me on baseless things, I will get to you whether you are a Chief if you peddle lies, I don’t fear anybody except  God, ‘ said Mumbi.

Mumbi also accused the media of blowing things out of proportion when the UPND is attacked and claimed that the PF was attacked by UPND members in Mulobezi.

Three UPND members were shot by PF senior thugs in the run up to the Mulobezi by-election but the PF police have failed to arrest the culprits who are well known.
