An elderly woman of Chadiza district, Eastern Province has refused to be paid a cow as compensation from a Catechism teacher of a Catholic Church who allegedly defiled her granddaughter.
The alleged culprit, Kanaisi Zulu, aged 75 of Kamwala compound of the same district was allegedly caught in the act in a maize field.
After being apprehended he pleaded that he was ready to pay a cow so that the matter could not be reported to the police. But the girls’ grand mother, Tilape Tembo refused to accept the cow saying the matter was a criminal offence.
Zulu, who is from the Joachim Group of the Catholic Organization has been hoodwinking the minor to his house so that he could teach her the catholic doctrines.
Zulu has since been arrested by police. Catechism is the name given to a written work that contains a summary of all the beliefs of the faith that is used as a teaching tool.
