CBU employees reject Sata’s appointed Vice-Chancellor

Copperbelt University (CBU) employees and students have vowed to not corporate with President Michael Sata and Education Minister John Phiri’s appointment of Professor Naison Ngoma and Dr Shadreck Chama as Vice Chancellor and Deputy Vice Chancellor respectively.

Sources have told the Watchdog that Education Minister John Phiri disregarded the recommendations of the search committee that appointed a Prof. Tembo for Vice Chancellor and a Dr. Libati for Deputy Vice Chancellor.

Sources have told the Watchdog that the PF government has allowed CBU to rot in corruption and the institution will continue experiencing the same headaches as long as leaders are put in corruptly.

The workers who are currently on strike have rejected the continuous manipulation of the institution by a few individuals and have vowed never to resume work unless their demands are met.

Some workers told the Watchdog that John Phiri (Education Minister) merely imposed his friends into management of CBU.
