Screen Shot 2016-01-15 at 07.20.43Riot police were called in after students blocked Jambo drive , the main road into Kitwe town. Students blocked the road by burning tires using petrol.

Students talked to said they have not been paid allowances, some of them since October last year including accommodation, project and meal allowances.

This is barely days later after lecturers went on a go- slow for equally being unpaid.

‘It is surprising that students should always shed blood for allowances that they are entitled to when even pf cadres get free allowances for watching a 10minute signing session at the stadium,’ one student told the Watchdog.
