Copperbelt University (CBU) students this morning booed and walked out of a meeting that was addressed by Higher Education Minister Michael Kaingu over the PF government’s failure to pay students meal and other educational allowances.
Students had gathered to listen to Kaingu but just as he was about to address them they started walking out.
“Good morning students,” was all he could say before students started to walk out. The troubled Higher Education Minister was visibly shocked as he watched helplessly as the spectacular wave of students rushed out of the popular CBU’s Multi-purpose facility.
“If I didn’t know better, I would have sworn that the students were been chased as they left. Moments later, the Minister’s convoy was seen cruising out of The Mighty Copperbelt University Zone. Now that experience is what constitutes an embarrassing day for a minister,’ a student told the Watchdog.
‘Students are not only hungry but angry because about 29 students are apparently in police custody scheduled to appear in court today,’ another student said.
