Council of Churches in Zambia (CCZ) Reverend Suzanne Matale has advised President Michael Sata to be cautious as he appoints citizens to the public service.
Speaking to 5fm, Matale said the President should avoid appointing individuals who have questionable characters or cases pending in the courts of law.
She noted that if the head of state continues to give public service positions to people who are known to lack integrity and credibility, Zambians may begin to doubt President Sata’s pledge of zero tolerance to corruption.
Matale said the President must listen to the voters and make pronouncements that are in their interest as he owes them a service.
The Reverend further President Sata must ensure he uses his authority as leader to ensure he appoints people who will be accepted by citizens and not individuals that will be rejected due to their dealings in the past.
