Charity Katanga lies that UPND Kitwe rally on because Lungu has ‘shifted’ his rally to Ndola

Copperbelt Police Commissioner Charity Katanga has lied that the UPND has been allowed to go ahead with their Kitwe rally because President Lungu has changed his rally from Kitwe to Lufwanyama in Ndola rural.
The PF had cancelled the UPND rally scheduled to be held at Freedom Park in Kitwe on the pretext that outgoing President Edgar Lungu would be holding a rally in Kitwe but the UPND went to court to seek a mandatory injunction against the PF, police and all state institutions to allow the UPND to hold their rally.
Lusaka High Court Judge Nicola-Sharpe Phiri signed an order allowing the UPND to hold their rally at Freedom Park in Kitwe this afternoon (Tuesday) but Katanga lied to journalists that the rally has been allowed because President Lungu has moved his rally to Ndola.
There is no law that stops political parties from holding rallies at different venues within a province but Lungu has been attempting to block the opposition from holding their final rallies in Lusaka and Copperbelt.
Katanga further said the police cancelled today’s ‘Let the people talk’ program on Radio Phoenix which was supposed to feature UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema due to lack of man power from the police.
She claimed that 20 police officers had initially been assigned to provide security to Mr Hichilema while at the Radio station but they (police) have all been assigned to police President Lungu’s rally in Ndola rural.
