Parliamentary Public Accounts Committee chairperson Charles Milupi has been removed from chairing the committee.
Milupi, who is also Luena independent member of parliament has been replaced by Mbabala MP Emmanuel Hachipuka, sources have revealed.
Sources say that the MMD through parliamentary whip Vernon Mwanga has for a long time been plotting to remove Milupi from the committee.
He has been seen as a nuisance through his public outbursts and therefore the MMD wanted a more compliant person.
Full details on how he was removed are yet to emerge.
On January 26, this year, Charles Milupi announced that he will be available to contest the Republican presidency in 2011 if Zambians favour him with that opportunity.
He said then that the presidency is God-given and those who would like to impose themselves will have a mountain to climb. Milupi said he believed that even if he does not become Republican president, he can still contribute to national development if he belongs to the right and capable team because there is progress in collective efforts.
