Chemical storage building at Kansanshi mine burnt down

A chemical storage building was completely destroyed by fire at Kansasnhi mine in Solwezi town Friday morning.
Watchdog contacts have revealed that fire fighters managed to save a second building just before it also burned down completely around 06 hours.
The cause of the fire had not being established by 08 hours local time. Affected buildings were housing chemicals used in separating copper from waste materials.
Kansanshi mine is one of the largest copper mines in Africa and is 80% owned by First Quantum of Canada. The Zambian government through ZCCM owns 20% shares.
